Real martial arts, real progress, real fun
A kids’ class is high-energy and structured. Students warm up, drill footwork and basics, learn a form, practice controlled sparring drills, and finish with a focus on respect — bowing, listening, and encouraging each other. Classes run in age-and-rank groups, so a brand-new white belt trains alongside other beginners, never thrown in with the advanced kids.
Kids earn a belt roughly every few months, and each new rank is a genuine confidence boost. At green belt, students begin their Kobudo weapons journey — starting with the nunchaku and bo staff — adding focus, coordination and a whole new set of skills. Many of our students stay with the weapons program all the way to a Kobudo black belt.
Beyond the physical skills, every class reinforces discipline, respect and perseverance. Parents tell us their kids listen better, focus longer at school and believe in themselves more — skills that outlast any belt.

Kids Karate questions, answered
My child is not very athletic. Will they keep up?
Absolutely. Kids classes are grouped by age and rank, so beginners train with other beginners and progress at their own pace. No athletic background is needed — the program builds coordination and fitness from the ground up.
Will karate help with bullying at school?
Yes. Kids learn confidence, posture and how to carry themselves, plus in-class self-defense and anti-bullying skills. The emphasis is on standing tall, staying safe and avoiding conflict — walking away is always taught as the first and best option.
How often do kids get to a new belt?
Kids typically earn a new belt roughly every few months, and each promotion is a real confidence boost. At green belt they also begin the Kobudo weapons path — nunchaku and bo staff — which adds a whole new layer of focus and fun.
Do kids spar? Is it safe?
Sparring begins only when a student is ready, using required protective gear — headgear, pads and mouth guards — and always under direct instructor supervision. Beginners focus on fundamentals and footwork long before any contact.
What does the free uniform include?
Every new student gets a free uniform, and the gear path continues from there — free sparring gear, a black uniform and a weapon are earned at yellow belt as part of the program. Your first class is free too, so you can try it with zero commitment.
