Mr. Gillenwater

        

Mr. Gillenwater trained under Grand Master James Byun. Mr. Gillenwater opened Lions Academy in 1986 in of North Webster, Indiana. He grew with his styles in Taekwondo, Kobudo, and Aiki-Jujitsu. Over the years he has helped to create MANY great martial artists. In 2012 he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). At that time Mr. Hanford was in the process of buying land and building a karate school in Fort Wayne. As the highest ranking student under Mr. Gillenwater, Mr. Hanford decided to continue on the Lions Karate school in North Webster to carry on the Lions Karate name and legacy, along with continue to positively influence the students in the community. Mr. Gillenwater faught a long and hard battle with the disease which took his life on June 5th, 2015.
